Professionalism Start to Finish

“KMA Building built our deck and sunroom in 2018. We heard about KMA Building from a friend who also used KMA's services for a deck project.

The first thing that stood out to us, was that Kevin listened. He gave us his time, and offered advice on our project even before we asked him for a quote. When we asked him to quote our project, the price was reasonable and just within our budget. Note: we had requested quotes from a number of other deck companies. Many of them were 30-50% higher than KMA - because they were hiring larger crews to come in and get the job done as fast as possible and move onto the next one.

We had come up with a deck design on our own, and Kevin spent time with us to review what was doable, and what might be tricky - so that we could keep our project within our budget. He also provided us with suggestions to improve our design - things that we are very grateful for in retrospect. You can only think of so much on your own!

When we decided to move forward with KMA, we noticed Kevin's commitment to quality early in the project. Things always come up. For us, we quickly discovered that an old concrete foundation was buried close to the surface, and would impact 6 of the 12 screw piles we would need for our deck and sunroom project. Wanting a uniform and solid foundation on piles, Kevin proceeded to rent a jackhammer, and went straight through the concrete - all 4 feet of it, 6 times - to get the screw piles down.

Speaking to the customer service end of things, Kevin was flexible with small design modifications that we made along the way. And effectively communicated the impact on the cost of the project.

What possibly impressed us the most, was the quality, workmanship, and attention to detail. When you get wood delivered, not all of it is going to be exceptional. That's just the reality. Kevin mindfully selected boards and timbers based on their visibility and placement. In the sunroom, speaking to workmanship, he hand-notched 6x6 timbers into each other, almost seamlessly, to create a solid and long-lasting structure.
